A new exhibition from Canberra’s leading artist, Koons Art Gallery, has opened at the Ritz Carlton in the capital.
The exhibition explores the changing world of contemporary art in an attempt to create a new understanding of what art can and can’t be.
“It’s important that we understand the art we see, but it’s equally important that the artists we see understand the world,” said Koons art director Sarah Lee.
“We need to work together to see the world we create together.”
The exhibition is titled The World of Contemporary Art.
“There’s a lot of change going on in the world, and it’s an opportunity to engage with that change and look at how we can change the world.”
When we look at our world, we see a lot that is very similar to ours, and this is a chance to reflect that, and look back on our experiences and try to understand why that is.
“Koons Art gallery is located at the intersection of Princes Street and Elizabeth Street.
It is located in a former warehouse on Princes St and has been on the site since the 1960s.
The gallery is home to artworks by artists including Australian painter and writer Daniel Auld, and German-born Japanese artist Haruki Murakami.
The works are exhibited in a large exhibition space on the ground floor.
The art exhibition will be on display until April 22.
